Visualtron Software announces the release of VisualGSM Enterprise SNMP2SMS Addon (Beta 1) for 90-days supported trials.

The SNMP2SMS Addon allows IT managers to receive fault and information alarms (SNMP Traps) from SNMP devices such as routers, printers, network attached storage, UPS systems, servers, etc via SMS.

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a protocol-based network management system. It is used to manage TCP/IP-based and IPX-based networks. Information on SNMP can be found in the Internet Request for Comment (RFC) 1157.

VisualGSM Enterprise SNMP2SMS Addon allows you to forward SNMP Trap information (including Variable Bindings) sent by SNMP agents and devices that support SNMP as SMS messages. SNMP2SMS also uses the SNMP GET request to obtain MIB object information such as sysDescr, sysUpTime, sysContact, sysName, sysLocation and Variable Bindings from network entity. The information obtained can be included within the SMS message. The format and type of information to include in the message is configurable.

You can specify an SMS recipient or you can use one of the SNMP properties obtained by SNMP2SMS as the SMS recipient. The SMS recipient can then be mapped to cell phone numbers using VisualGSM Server phonebook.

The SNMP2SMS Addon runs as an independent automatic starting NT service that logs all traps received.

Users can also setup SMS keyword services to query SNMP devices.

System Prerequisites:

1. VisualGSM Enterprise Server:
You can download from here - http://www.visualgsm.com/download.htm

2. Windows Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)*:
Install the Windows SNMP from the Add/Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> Management and Monitor Tools -> Details -> Simple Network Management Protocol.

*Note: Windows SNMP might not be available on XP Home.


For Registered Users of VisualGSM Server:

During the trial period, users can submit feature requests. Registered users of VisualGSM Server products are eligible for a free Developer License version of VisualGSM Server if there is a need to install on a separate PC.
