VisualGSM Enterprise supports both WAP Push Service Indication (SI) and WAP Push Service Load (SL). Details are as follows:
WAP Push Service Indication appears on the phone like an SMS alert (on Nokia phones it prompts "Service Message Received"). Different levels of indication or alert can be indicated when composing the WAP Push message (None/Low/Medium/High). A 'High alert' will result in a beep. And at the other end, 'None alert' will result in no alert at all.
After receiving the WAP Push alert, the user can choose to save the message into the Service Inbox of the phone. WAP Push SI will contain a description of what the WAP Push is about.
The service provider can also retract an invalid WAP Push message by sending a "Delete alert" message to delete a WAP Push message with the same URL that is stored on the recipient handset.
WAP Push Service Load (SL) will simply open the browser to download the media automatically without intervention. Many models from Nokia do not support WAP Push Service Load. Several models from Sony Ericsson support WAP Push Service Load.
Both WAP Push Service Load and WAP Push Service Indication messages can be sent with created and expiry dates. Newer messages will replace stored messages on the recipient handset of the same URL. Expired messages will disappear from the handset.
